Please welcome Mr. Joe Davis as an additional faculty sponsor for the DSMS Robotics club.  Mr. Davis will be assisting parent mentor, Dave Wilson, with the FLL competition this fall allowing Mr. Norman time to work more closely with the BEST team.

2014 Tiger Robotics Kick-off Meeting – 9/9/14 at 4:30pm

Our first meeting of the year will be held next Tuesday (9/9) starting at 4:30 in Room A109 (Mr. Norman’s classroom).  Both students and parents are invited to attend to learn about the differences between the 2 competitions – BEST and FLL (Lego) and what to expect during the competition season and beyond.

The easiest place to enter the school on that day at that time is the East entrance near Peabody St (Tractor Supply).  If the door is locked, please call 512.858.3433 (Mr. Norman’s classroom) for entry.

Spy Bot Competition

Students had a great time the past Thursday with the final competition for the Spy Bot challenge.  2 robots were created from the club Vex kits.  Both robots needed to navigate a course filled with obstacles to enter a room to find a hidden message.  To add to the difficulty, the driver was not in direct sight of the robot and had to rely on video feed from the robot itself.  Here’s a video one of the kids made.

Field Trip to Tokyo Electron

Members of Tiger Robotics will be making a field trip this Friday morning, February 24th, to visit Tokyo Electron in Austin. Tokyo Electron manufactures machines used in the fabrication of semiconductors so lots of cool robots should be available!
